Thieme Clinical Companions
This small portable book is a good reference for medical students and residents learning ultrasound. As a modified atlas of ultrasound findings, it is not a comprehensive text and does not contain references. The descriptions are sketchy and limited and the illustrations and print small in order to insure that the book is easy to carry around. Some information is left out. For example, there is no mention of homogeneous or heterogeneous carotid plaque or the pseudo-kidney sign in GI disease. However, the book includes many images and is a good introduction to ultrasound for those who do not have the time for a comprehensive textbook.
